Teltanykill are large, Komodo dragon-like Estalons that dwell deep within the deserts of Astracel. With their sleek bodies, keen eyesight, and natural camouflage, they are among the few predators most will never see coming. A line of small spikes runs from head to tail along their backs, acting as a deterrent against aerial Estalons that might otherwise target them as prey. Their hunting method is deceptively simple: they burrow into the sand and allow the desert winds to naturally refill the hole, concealing them completely. Once hidden, they lie in wait for mid- to large-sized prey to approach. Although direct observation has proven difficult, largely due to the cunning nature of the Teltanykill, researchers believe they sustain themselves during long waits by capturing small Flihe that move beneath the sands. Teltanykills are highly aggressive and will attack nearly any creature they consider viable prey. While no Eldrane species permanently inhabit these deserts, groups of Khorul occasionally venture into the region, though few return.
