The Divine

  • While there are many ancient stories that are told to children all over Astracel, none of them compare to the Rhyme of the Divine. Though it is a legend, parents tell it as a warning, a reminder that forces watch from the shadows, acting only when the fate of the world is about to be drastically altered.
  • "There once was a wicked soul who believed they could shape the world with nothing more than thought. Yet after every attempt, there were always those who denied the dreams, no matter how fiercely they fought".

  • "Then the fateful day came; they uncovered a fragment known as a Tervine Shard, radiant with strange power. Pride swelled within their chest as they exclaimed, 'This time the world will know my might, this very hour'".

  • "They gathered shards endlessly until their hunger burned away all sense of reason. Passion consumed them completely, at last they created a weapon powerful enough to shatter the moons, and they prepared to celebrate the coming season".

  • "As the night wore on, the machine and the wicked soul vanished, taken away to a place unseen. For it was none other than the Divine who stood before them, and there appeared their leader, broken yet keen".

  • "Flesh torn open as if from a ravaging battle long past, it spoke in a voice both ancient and grim. 'We warned you time and time again', it declared, 'and now your place in this world must finally dim'".

  • "Before any reaction could be made, their strength was undone and their vision turned black. With a single final stroke, a head was severed, and for the sins committed, there was no path back".

  • "The Divine serve no banner, no creed, no written law. Yet all still fear their call, knowing even the Gods themselves may not save them at all".

  • "If you glimpse their sign, change your course while you still have a chance to flee. If you cannot, prepare what is due, for the Divine will find you, and when they do, they will end thee".
  • Though some dismiss this as an old folk tale, a story meant to frighten children from straying into evil, others still believe. Some even claim to have seen the mark of the Divine etched into its members' flesh, forever to remain. While many stories persist, this is by far one of the most frightening that could be true, and it has given rise to many ideas, most notably that the leader of the Divine is none other than a surviving Malavotin, for who else could witness the fate of the world itself.
